I've been thinking about goals and resolutions for next year. Haven't decided what they will be, but I will make some. I think I am right around 620 miles for the year but most of this was run from May - October. I did guesstimate on mileage before May that was logged in my workouts on the company wellness site but I didn't put down exact mileage. One of my goals will certainly be around more consistent mileage.
In the meantime, my mileage has dipped to what I consider dangerously low. The main culprit was that nasty bronchial thing. I'm reading and watching all of you continue to put in amazing miles and be excited about the change of seasons. I'm healthy now and I've apparently mastered physical therapy :D hee, hee. So, it's time to do something about it.

3.91 miles ~ 49:07 ~ 12:33 pace
0 hip pains
0 foot pains
0 walking (can I get a halleluja chorus, people? this is a triple header miracle)
2 dryfit layers
1 windbreaker layer
1 heavy headband, might need more
3 oh.my.god.this.is.ice.i.hope.i.dont.fall.and.break.my.a$$ dances (have you see this dance? It is quite a sight!)
I realized while running that I had a bowl of cereal this morning and a bite or two of cottage cheese. I was trying to remember if I drank anything at all today. YIKES. I didn't have anything to drink all day. I was SO busy today, I didn't eat or drink (that is for my boss who occasionally reads my blog!) I definitely need to do better on the hydration front. Mr. Hydration will probably have a coronary if he reads this....
Happy Miles!

Tell me you didn't run on that? Good god.
I did treadmill today. I felt like a hamster. Bleck.

Getting sick does some crazy things - it's like the body's way of pushing the reset button. I'm still trying to get over whatever it is I have.
I've been having the same issue with drinking enough water lately. I need to get back on the running too. My mileage has dropped like a rock since after my marathon. I just can't seem to get back in to it! Great job on the run with that ice...yikes!
halleluja for getting back out there, not falling, and no pain. Did you know the don't break my ass dance burns more calories :) stay safe on that mess. don't fret about the mileage, you were sick. you'll work your way back up there.
I think you got your winter illness in early and hope it is over. You inspired me this weekend - I had to finally break down and put planks back into the ab routine. The entire time I was holding it and hating it I was thinking of your 1 minute plus miracles (3 times over!)
No hip pain?! No foot pain?! No walking?!
YEeeeeeehaaaah
Way to go!!!
Be careful out there girl!! 38? HUH? Brrrrrrrr Nice job on your comeback there. :>)
That picture is SCARY!
Ahhhh yes, the icy path dance. Very graceful! LOL I think you need to tape yours so we can all see it in action :P
Congrats on the "wellness" of your run. That is awesome! Watch out for that ice... We don't need no stinkin accidents :-)
I'm hoping that picture is not the ACTUAL path you ran on?
COngrats on a pain free, walk free run!! I wish you many more of those...
i'm with everyone who already said it - hoping that's not the actual path you ran on! yikes! i have some time before i see ice around here (knock on wood) ... although i got my first taste this year of sub 25 degrees ... i think it was 23 when i went out this morning. ah! love, love, love the pain free runs! don't worry about your decreased mileage - you were sick. you'll get it back!
Thanks for everyone's concern. That was NOT the actual path. Icy Path is a picture I found on Flickr. I gave credit to the photographer at the end of the post.
I mostly ran in the street, but did encounter a very icy bike path. I re-routed up a gi-normous hill, hence the 3rd split being a bit slow. I was able to pick it up again after that hill.
Thanks for worrying about me!! :D
I've been really negligent about getting enough fluids lately myself - i finally started placing a full bottle on my desk at work.
if you plan to continue winter running - make yourself some "screw shoes" better traction, see this link: http://www.skyrunner.com/screwshoe.htm
Ice is scary. Especially to run on, so be careful!
Nice run! Very good to see you are healthy again.
congrats on getting out there! It ain't east.
Nice job on that frigid run! I have been feeling the same...watching everyone else get in such great runs and hating every minute of the ones I do run and then feeling super guilty about the ones where I can't even get myself out the door :X
halleluja from me to you. Good job on your pain free and no walking. Keep that up.
lolol gosh I was just thinking how much friggin water I drank already today and WHY was I thinking about it more then Normal...
well my legs are SORE from that run on Sunday SO every time I would get up and walk to the bathroom I am like geesh I am sore...then I go to fridge grab another bottle of water and go back to my desk--LOL so ur right I am a water FREAKKKKKKKK!!!!
Glad u had a safe walk/run on that ice be careful...and yes please drink that water...it is a known fact that when the temps get colder people drink EVEN LESS h2o ---ahhh that is scary!
DRINK UP!!! and Clear PEEEEEE to all and to all a good night...HO HO HO ... lololol
Be careful out there! I know what its like to fall on the ice and be laid up--so many times! Doesn't it suck that we have to deal with these obstacles? It does make us tougher though. Keep at it, your miles will come back up. Winter isn't really the time to worry too much. Just try to bring the miles back up to maintain a base and then go hog wild in the spring!
You're a champ, running when it is that cold. I ventured out and ran a race this past weekend and I was shivering in the 40 degree weather and wondering if it was too cold to run.
And I also did the same thing on my race on Sat., except mine was that I didn't eat enough during the race.
What's with us not hydrating and eating enough when we know we need to? I can't figure it out.
Yay for running and not falling! I'm now giving higher priority to not falling than to distance or speed -- at least until I find replacement running pants :D
