Drunk Push Ups

We went to the friends after Beggar's Night and started in on the Pumpkin Ale, a specialty brew from our favorited Pub. I had enough that at one point, I thought I should show the friends my push ups. Today I asked PT (physical therapy) guy if drunk push ups still count. He said he can't vouch for my form but he thinks so. Cool.
Jenny The Hardbody suggested that if I can do 25 girlie push ups, I might be able to do some regular ones. I doubted it, but tried. They aren't very deep or very strong but I can do a few, maybe 5 or 6. I'm going to shoot for 10 good ones. Jenny does some loooooong planks, I've been working on those too. Huge improvements so far, PT guy was impressed. I will have to time them and post. PT guy seems determined to tone and strengthen me from the ribs down. He says it's going to make a huge difference in my running :D
So maybe Runnerbody doesn't just happen, I think I will try to make it happen...

should you find a pill that makes "runnerbody" happen - can you send it my way. I can do push-ups but still don't have runnerbody.

I thought maybe you'd have pics of your adorable boys in costume...

I can't do push-ups either. I even suck at the girly ones. Maybe that should be my winter goal...just be able to drop and do 10 real ones!!

I do girl push ups regularly, but can only pull out about 2 regular push ups, so you're way ahead of me!

A core workout is the BEST. It's amazing how your core affects the rest of your body.

Wow... I don't think I can to 25 girly pushups.. I think I am afraid of smashing my face in...

Maybe I should try it drunk... like now.

saw the title and started laughing. thanks! I can do about 10 pushups at a time but still no runnerbody. I think it might be all the fries I eat and beer I drink ;) Glad to hear you are making amazing progress at PT!

I had shoulder surgery last year, so I can't even do girlie push-ups. I'm doing physical therapy, including a few wall push-ups. I hope to build up to girlie push-ups. You are way ahead of me!

Oh, I miss the specialty brews like pumpkin beer. When this little Richmond Marathon is over I'm going to go have a whole bunch of microbrews.

I'll admit that I don't do many push-ups.. I have gotten hooked on that Yoga thing called the bridge?. I can actually hold my body up for quite a while until I collapse into a quivering mass and am unable to move for a few minutes. IMHO, we runners should get a pass on all that upper body stuff.

OK, now there's a push up challenge?!! Alright, alright. I'll start working on them. =)

That is too funny you were doing push ups while drunk. THAT's hard core dedication babe.

Awesome! I am so glad to hear that you tried regular push-ups, and actually got 5 or 6! What worked well for me, was to do a set (say, 10 or 12 since 10 regular ones is a goal for you), and start with the regular ones until you can't do any more, then drop your knees and finish the set with girlie ones. Eventually, you will be doing more and more regular ones and won't need to drop to your knees until the last few, and then ultimately, you will do all ten!!! I promise. Keep me posted on your progress.

Oh, and by the way, thanks for the hardbody compliment. I am blushing.

Wow, I need to join you when you exercise! I can't remember the last time I did a decent set of pushups and really need to consider putting together some form of a winter workout to supplement my cold weather running. Great job!

I haven't even thought about doing regular push ups - maybe I will try tonight.

I hate pushups, so next time I'm drunk, I'm trying some.

Hey Nancy,
I love it that you call Jenny the Hardbody! :)
Good luck on your hill repeats today, can't wait to hear how they go!
PS I still do girlie pushups, but maybe I'll try some regular ones, you've inspired me!

It seems that no matter how much progress you make with fitness, there's always something else to be done! Keep trying, it will come together. Drunk pushups? Sounds like something I'd do! LOL!

I need to work on my core, too. I think I will start doing some stuff now, since it's starting to get cold outside and I can do it indoors. :-)

HA! Drunk pushups made me laugh. Although I'm sort of groaning to myself thinking of all the work I need to do myself since I am SO FAR AWAY from having a "runner body".

Wait what? Those 6-pack abs don't just turn up from running? Grr!

Buying memory cards is such a big hassle... You have to search online for prices, sort through which ones are legit, go out to a bunch of stores, compare prices, finally buy your memory, and then hope that the price doesn't fall in the next month or so.

I've been screwed over by some ridiculous price drops in the past... especially this one time when I bought a Micro SD for my R4 gaming flash card at what was apparently a bargain price, only to later see that it had dropped by $5 in a week's time.
