I had a great lunch yesterday!! I met up with Tom and Amy from Runner's Lounge for the first time. We've been corresponding some and decided it was time to meet up. What fun!! We talked about all our favorite bloggers and shared stories, although we already knew many of each other's stories. It was so interesting to know so much about each other but be meeting for the first time. Wish we would have snapped some pictures...BTW, both of them looked fabulous and fit and were just super nice. I'm so excited for them to get their new Runner's Lounge up and running!!
We talked through my training a bit and I am feeling better. Both Tom and Amy feel like I have plenty of long runs under my belt for the HM in 28 days and actually encouraged me to shorten up some of my shorter runs. I was still sort of on my marathon plan for runs during the week. Should be a nice break for the feet and all the other aches and pains.
Tom is also co-directing a big race next weekend and was encouraging me to do it. Capital Pursuit bills itself as the "fastest race in Iowa." Yes, I know, I really have NO business being with this fast field. But really, what the hell? It might be fun and I already know I will probably finish last so there isn't much drama in it. I am more worried that the aid stations will be closed when I pass :D, but then again, I can take my own stuff for a 10 miler. Amy said she would love to run it with me and cross together in last place, but she's going to be out of town. How 'bout that for a fast friend?
Sounds like some other bloggers have been meeting up for runs and having a great time. I decided, there's something about running bloggers, they seem to just be really good people! I have learned so much from all of you already, I can't wait to meet more of you. Thanks for the great lunch, Tom and Amy, and for all your shared wisdom and support! I hope there will be many more meetings...

That sounds pretty cool that you three met up! I agree Amy (haven't had the fortune to talk with Tom yet) is super nice. I wish you the best on the race next weekend. I was planning on perhaps doing that race as well (+ another 10 miles), but I don't think my podiatrist will approve racing the day after the cast comes off. Good luck!
How fun! I always imagine how great these runners would be to meet in person.
Ohhhh Nancy how cool!! I didn't realize you all were from Iowa!! Well, I knew you were but I didn't realize that Tom and Amy were also LOL.
Does no one in New York run? Gawwwddd. Well, upstate NY. I know there are many city peeps that do.
Ok next week I'll drive to Iowa. We'll do lunch hehe.
even if the aid stations are gone by the time you wander by there are usually nice sized crumbs left on the ground or little puddles of water so you shouldn't have to worry. ;)
I did know that you were all in Iowa, because I have noticed that people from Iowa are really nice. At least the runners. I have some other online friends from Iowa. In fact, I'm sitting here wearing a "Run Dubuque Till You Puke" t-shirt. I think it is great that you all got to meet. I've been really lucky about getting the opportunity to meet and run with people I've met from blogs and message boards. By the way, I got the chance to finish last a couple months ago. It wasn't that bad, and I can embellish into a really funny story.
Hey Marcy, I live in Seattle but I've gone running with 2 different people from Rochester that I met online. That's upstate, isn't it?
There is a tiny part of me that is happy for you guys that you could meet up, but mostly I am jealous!
We will blame that on the pain meds and left over anesthesia hanging out in my tissues (the nurse said, "fat cells," but that is just a plain mean thing to say don't you think?).
I think it is awesome that you guys got to meet. I can't believe you guys were actually close enough, but that is great. I feel like I've really gotten to know my fellow bloggers in just the last few months I have been doing this and to actually meet some of the people... well that is just amazing. Three of the nicest people any blogger (or just regular person!) would ever want to meet.
Bill
That's exciting to meet some bloggers in person. I have never met a single blogger in person. I plan on doing so in Chicago, and I'm very excited about it!
Running bloggers are some great folks. Glad you got to meet up with some!
You're going to rock your HM. :)
That's so awesome that you got to meet Tom and Amy! I didn't realize you all lived so close. I haven't had the chance to meet any fellow blogger runners but hopefully someday!
You are going to rock that half marathon, Nancy! I'm so excited for you and I can't wait to read the report.
Very cool, glad u guys got together and had a good time!!
I met a few blogger at the GTR race, it is pretty neat to catch up with fellow bloggers!
I looked fit? hahahahahaha....
You are too kind. It was great doing lunch. I am still trying to figure out how I can do the family thing, drive back and do that race too. My fear is that I would hold you back - it's been a long time since I have been over 6 miles.
Good luck on the race - you will have so much fun!

That is too cool!! Maybe I'll get to wave at Kate as she zooms past me during the Columbus marathon next month!lol
How fun! I would love to be able to meet fellow bloggers up for lunch! You are very lucky to live close and meet.
If nothing else, we bloggers talk a good game. ;-)
That 10-miler sounds like a really fun race. Go for it, and have a good time no matter when you finish.
Very nice!! yes do go for that 10K
Yeah for blogging meet ups!!! How fun!
It's alway fun to meet other running bloggers! That's awesome you met not only one but two!
Have fun at the race.
Don't worry about crossing the finish line near the end of the pack. At least you cross it, which is much more than a lot of people can say.
So jealous of your fun lunch...
Fun, fun, fun!!!! :-)
