*sigh*

Thanks to everyone who participated and/or commented regarding our latest virtual race. Hopefully the prizes have been received by now. I've been getting a few questions/suggestions...nothing set for the next one but always open for suggestions. They do take a chunk of time so I space them out a bit.

I haven't been running or blogging much at all. I'm sorry I haven't been around much. My mileage took a dive while I was in New York in meetings that seemed to suck the life out of me after I was in Mpls for a week in meetings that seemed to suck the life out of me. sigh. I did 3 over the weekend then came down with a nasty head cold. I am SO not where I want to be. I'm going to have to re-build. again. double sigh. At least I can run 3, but it was extremely slow. I don't even feel like I can call my running buddies, they'd be so bored of my slowness... If anyone has any advice, I'm all ears. The weight is still down, so at least I have that, especially after all the travel.

Convo in our house while watching women's olympic sprinters:
Husband (being funny): Mommy is faster than those girls.

5 year old: She is not. She'd be there if she was faster than them. Mommy would get last if she ran with those girls!

I guess he gets the concept of the Olympics. sigh. He starts kindergarten tomorrow. double sigh.

I was thinking, well maybe I could have run further than Deena, the poor thing. She actually had a broken foot. However, she was about 4 or 5 miles in before she stopped. I tried to run in the Beijing heat+humidity=pure hell. I think I only did 2.5 while I was there. sigh. She evens beats me with a broken foot. I meant to post some pics from that run. I should do that.

Two of my favorite female bloggers (read that girl crushes) independently last week started talking about their girl crushes and I was not the object of either of their adoration. I was actually sad. HA HA. But then I thought, it's probably better that those crushes are one-sided, right? I mean it might be sort of weird (and maybe called something else) if those crushes were actually returned. hee hee. ( I wasn't sure where to put the sigh ??) :D

All for now. Hopefully the head cold will high tail it outta here and I can hit the road. Hope you are all having some good runs for me.

I am having a hard time getting back into it as well. We take an unusually keen interest in the track and field events. I'm just stupid proud of Simon Whitfield right now. http://www.nationalpost.com/sports/beijing-games/story.html?id=734442

Nancy we all love you (not in the girlcrush way) just the way you are.

Running as we, you and I know it is for fun....when it's not fun, or when it's a pita...(pain in the ass), step back....take so time to re-group, you'll be fine...

Never ever having little ones I can only imagine how hard the first Kindergarten day will be, hang in there girlie!

*heart you*....

Wait a minute, I didn't talk about having a girl crush; I'm not one of your favorite? *Sigh*

J/K Nanc, none of should compare ourselves to Olympians; those people are actually cyborgs.

I hope you are feeling better. I started training for a half in Oct. I was overtraining for a bit and now I'm feeling better now that I've cut back. Although, my weight is up.. boo

Nice job on running a little while still sick! Best thing for a cold is to sleep it off - one whole day in bed, a couple of hot showers in there somewhere, and the next day you'll have cleard the hump and be on the mend. Of course, those bloody meetings get in the way... Good luck and feel better!

I totally girl *heart* you, Nancy.

Hi Nanc

I am quite sure that I am not the only one who has a crush on you... there must be 1000's... maybe more. You know it is a funny thing how life can get in the way of all your best intentions. But you've got to temper that with the fact that you do an amazing thing with your family, work, and all your blogging friends who take up some time as well. Either way you look at it, 24 hours or 7 days just doesn't cut it.

So take it easy on my friend Nancy.. she has got a lot on her plate.

Best of luck with everything and know you have a big fan from Michigan...one of many I am sure.

Don't despair...once you get back in the flow, the miles will start adding up again quickly and all will seem right with the world.

I hope that you feel better soon. Kindergarten is a hard time for us parents. Get well soon. :-)

It is tough when we get in a rut. Hang in there, because you are a strong woman and you'll bust out of it soon! The road will be ready for you when you're ready, as will your blogging friends (and crushes!). :)

Happy start of Kindergarten. It can be an emotional start, but once the school year gets going, you'll be sure to love the groove!

I hope Kindergarten went well. My 5 year old stared yesterday, I can't believe he's so big already.

Oh you know I *heart* you Nanc!

Sighhhhhhhhhh you mean you actually have a real job and have to WORK? and Family? And Kindergarten? And it gets in the way of running? What the heck?

That will be me for the next 11 days or so - until I have that pesky little 5k. I just hope my clients next week realize I am human and have to eat/sleep/run.

Physical and mental ruts are all around us. :) Since school has started, I'm so in need of an upper cuz I'm so not ready. lol It has affected my training as I struggle with the motivation to move. :)

Check out this energy drink that I found doing RAGBRAI and let me know what you think. www.verve.com

You still have the runners 3 mile base you can build from there with no worries.

I have missed you. I was about to send an APB email out for you, or post a missing picture of you on a milk carton on my blog.

LOL at the kiddos comment of the Olyimpics!

OK I know I have not talked about girl crushes so geez, I am out of the crush category... I guess I will settle for the funny fat friend title..LMAO!

I hope you feel better soon.

How exciting that your little guy is starting kindergarten! It seems like when they turn 5 they act like they are 30. Ha! I also have a little man starting Kindergarten in 2 weeks.

Hang in there!!

Nancy, you have an extremely busy life so don't feel bad about "slacking." We all do from time to time. Its just good to know the whole running/blogging thing is there when you want and need it.

I hope that the head cold got out of there, and the little one is enjoying Kindergarten. My little one may start next year. We will see how her development goes this year. As for you being slow, at least you ARE a runner. Us slow ones are there to get the most out of the run.
