My Own Little Marathon

The Hub's away and I'm in the middle of my own little marathon. I stayed up way too late last night and not having fun like someone I know. I started one of my p90x workouts at 11:30pm!! Ugh. I only did about half of it because I had a stabbing pain in one of my quads. Crap. Have you ever sprung up out of lunges?? Ouch. After that, I topped it off with a little continuing education on-line. Doesn't that sound like a blast?

What I could use right now is a couple more hours in the day (preferably for sleep). The little one woke up at 3am wanting to brush his teeth! The boys and I have been having some fun time together, too. Here, the little bathing beauties thought that my hair towels were hilarious and decided to pose for their dad. We sent him this picture in Japan.

I managed 3.14 miles yesterday morning at a 12:14 pace (12:26, 12:18, 12:09, 10:59) on the trail at Raccoon River Park -- much more enjoyable than the time when the trail was all frozen foot prints and tire tracks. Certainly not fast, but it's what I had yesterday. I'm okay with that. I'm trying not to worry too much about that last failed long run attempt. Thanks, everyone, for your encouragement and words of wisdom. If I don't have enough miles in by now, it's probably too late. I am going to keep doing some medium and short runs until race time.

p90x is going well. It is something like 12 different workouts that are rotated at different times. The chest one is super hard - not sure I knew there were so many different kinds of push ups and pulls ups. Or, so many chestal regions that needed attention. hee hee. One thing I really like is they are good about showing you how to modify the moves if you need to. ( I pretty much suck at both push ups and pull ups!) Today I did Arm/Shoulders and Abs.

The Yoga session is a killer. I.Had.No.Idea. Yoga is hard, homies, and this is extreme yoga. All those poses POM has been giving us, well, dang, girl. I have new appreciation. And, ahem, I'm pretty sure I don't look like you do in the poses yet. :D Instead of giving you my hilarious and slightly sad variety, I give you POM doing it the right way. Yes, I stole this picture. Hope you don't mind. Some day I will look like this... (I'm really into men, but if I was a guy, I would totally marry POM.)

Oh yeah, and because I don't have enough to do...guess what just came in. :D

I am so looking into this p90x workout. Both me and the fi could use some butt kicking before August! And I am super stoked about Wii Fit. Really I just need another excuse to use my Wii :) Enjoy your time sans hubbie! Can't wait to see the pics when blogger starts working again.

That push-up workout is the worst! from what I remember. i think I fell on my face a couple times trying to do the ones where your feet are on a chair...brain damage.

Your night sounds like mine last night...workout too late at night followed by work...not fun.

I don't think I could do p90x or whatever. It's too many numbers and letters put together.

Those px90 informercials do look intriguing.

Wonder how many you could sell? You should get a comission!

But 11:30, that's nuts!

I am SOOO jealous of your husband right now. It's been way too long since I've been back to Japan. He's so lucky.

Gah! I have seen the Px90 and I am very scared of them. I will stick to the Wii fit even though it makes fun of my fatness.

I'm very interested to find out how people like Wii Fit.

I'm not sure I can see myself standing in front of the TV doing any kind of workout, but with the Wii it might be kinda fun.

OMG Nanc, your boys are ADORABLE!!

Nice run.....you are going to be great. No more worrying, ok?

I think after reading your email today, vs Carly's post on Wii Fitt.......well, I am thinking the Wii has my name on it, LOL!! Much more my speed.

Seriously though, I am still pondering p90x.....what to do, what to do?

px90 sounds pretty unfun! It's probably akin to CrossFit if I had to guess. That stuff is hard.

You are amazing with all you juggle. Hang in there.

Jerry has been talking about the WiiFit, but he said he heard some complaints about how it is set up. You'll have to test it and let us know!

My wife has been circling the Wii Fit system for a bit now. Soon, it'll be in our home.

Keep pressing on with your running. Do what you can do is all you can do.

I love that picture of your boys - totally cute, plus it's funny that I spotted two pairs of running shoes in there.

I can't do yoga either. I don't bend.

Yeah, Nancy, we all have our own little marathons to pull through. I see you're doing a great job of getting through yours. I should learn from your example.

Hi Nanc

You truly have become the queen of cross training and I'm more than a little envious. I just run and it seems like I am one of the last holdouts and for that I am holding the big "L" right up in front of my forehead.

Honestly Nanc, it is a funny thing about races. You can prepare all you want and if it is not your day it really doesn't matter. On the other hand, all this yoga, p90x, abs, etc. stuff has got to be worth something and if you have a GOOD day, you might really surprise yourself. I'm thinking the latter...

Best of luck with the munchkins and the Japan stranded hubby.

The P90X system sounds kind of intense, but if you Google it, there are a lot of people out there claiming it works. If you can stay with it, I'm sure it will do great things for you. Mr Diva brought me a Wii Fit last week. He hooked it up yesterday. I think it is a little more my speed.

Almost forgot to say how totally cute your little boys are!

hee hee, i don't know which of those photos looks like the most fun. playing in the shower - dancing in the mountains - or..uh..video game fitness?

You started your workout at 11:30 PM?? That kind of inspires me to do something now - at midnight - even though the draw to bed is incredibly great because I just KNOW that one of our children will be up within the next four hours.

I skipped my run today and am BLOWING it big time for the preparation of a 10K run in less than six weeks. I can hardly run more than 2 miles without falling in to cardiac arrest with paralyzing leg cramps.

Woo-hoo!! I love this sport. NOT!! :)

That was a marathon! Man you made me tired reading about it!

PX 90 is no joke - you go girlie!

I'm so curious to try the p90x workouts, so many people rave about them! Thanks for the details.

your kids are adorable!

Wow - an 11:30 workout?? I figure if I don't start by Dr. Phil (5pm) I'm pretty much done ... except my regularly scheduled tues/thurs runs.

Yay for Wii Fit! I've only snuck on a few days -- my kids, however, are LOVING.IT. They aren't sedentary by nature, but geez - a game that'll keep them moving even as FL afternoon summer storms roll in?? Yippee!!
