Come Back, RegularRunner Girl

I've been M.I.A. for awhile. I've missed you all. I owe you some pictures, so here is a start.

The coughing crappy illness I contracted 4 weeks ago kept my lungs in its grips for just long enough that my worst fears began to be realized, RegularRunner Girl (RRG) started to slip from my grasp. The cough was so bad that I would go into fits and spasms and had a hard time getting stopped at times. There were several days that I slept on the couch and then finally got an antibiotic for an infection in my bronchioles. I still have a mild productive cough, but I am feeling fine...

The whole reason I started this program and this blog, to find RRG and keep her going, nearly has slipped away. It's been a month since the HM, and I have only done a few runs, around 2 a week. That wouldn't be so bad if significant Xtraining had ensued, but alas, no. The coughing caused the slow down and then the cold weather started playing with my motivation and dedication. I have, however, done 2 hill workouts and my hip seems a little better, so maybe the rest was a good thing? ONLY and I repeat, ONLY, if it is a rest/slowdown and does not lead to the loss of RRG.

My task now, amid travel and craziness of the holidays? Make sure I get back to being RegularRunner Girl. I leave for White Plains, NY tomorrow for an Advanced Statistics class. WTF was I thinking? Advanced Statistics?? :D Well, what I was thinking is that I love NY and hoped it would be in Manhattan and if not, that I could get in and do a show. Not likely now with the strike and the fact that we are out in White Plains. However, this gives me some time to explore and run in a new and different place. I will resurrect RRG this very week.

Today, I ran with the sis-in-law and decided I can do this cold weather thing. In fact, it was quite nice:
11:49
11:51
15:40 - yes, you read that right. I stopped to re-tie both shoes....twice. EEK. I need to do a fancy tie job because the tops of my feet hurt.
.5 mile walk/jog cool down.

Tomorrow, I will run in White Plains when I arrive.

Had a nice Turkey Day, despite the overeating and feeling like a huge toad. I'm thankful for all of you that I have met in the last year who give me support, encouragement, laughs, ideas... Hope you all had a fantastic holiday. Now, it's time to kick it in gear. :D RunnerBody awaits.

I was hoping you would post so I didn't feel like a crazy psycho kid commenting on your old post...

Sounds like a good plan and hopefully the weather in White Plains is decent for you (I found 26 degrees in NYC this past weekend slightly less than inviting).

Hope you feel better soon and you enjoy your statistics class. Well, I know the latter is impossible, so work on getting well instead!

Good god, well, I ended up taking most of last week off as well. Stupid cold. Glad to hear you're on the mend.

Ain't nothing wrong with a 15 minutes miles. ;) I have had more than a few myself.

Glad you're back. Missed you over the last 9 days. Praying for a full recovery from the cold and the hip problems.

I have to tie my shoes and then tie the loops to keep them from coming untied during a run. And, shoot, if I have to stop, I stop my watch and then restart it when I start again -- I don't care to time my shoe-tying (or however that's spelt).

Glad to see you're doing better. I was wondering what happened to you. It's okay to rest though. We need it sometimes. Hang in there. RRG will return.

Advanced statistics?!? wow!

By the way, welcome back...I really hope you kick this cough soon. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for you. You will get back on track and be a RRG before you know it!

Hi Nancy, I've missed you terribly. I feel a little bit like I've been stalking you because of the number of times I've checked your site for a new post. I'm sorry that this cold has hit you so hard. I hope that RRG returns soon, but after a 4 week break, be sure that you ease back into your routine. If you over do it, you could relapse.

Well, it is truly great to have you back! I think that you are an inspiration to all of us. Not only in terms of your perserverance, but in the way you treat your fellow BRFs. In short, we love you and care about your RRG status.
I know about the whole health thing because in the winter I am almost always battling something.. hang in there. White Plains NY.. I think everything about that sounds great except for the AS class. I think that to make this trip a true success you will have to do some serious imbibing and during that time look back at all the amazing progress you have made.. I'll be watching you :-)

You're back! I was missing you! Taking a month off because you ran a half-marathon and then got sick does not take away your regular runner girl status. I know how that can make you panic-y, however. Believe in yourself, and just get back out there! We all know you are a regular runner!

Hope that the trip treats you well and you find time for a few runs. Let me know what the first week of December looks like for a run together. Just a few weeks until the big run on the 8th and we can't disappoint our fans.

Take care,
Amy

You'll get your mojo back. Focus on being healthy, that's all.

Yep, lace your shoes backward, and you'll feel the difference immediately.

Good times with the Advanced Stats. Ugh...I remember stats from college eons ago.

Regular running? That's a pipe dream for me these days. We'll get it back though... soon!

well hon you just made *me* laugh when I read "huge toad".

No one is going to fault you for not running when you've been feeling like such crapola :-) Get better. The roads will be there when you get well. But, hey, then again, statistics might do you in for good ;-)

Coughing does get in the way of normal activity, especially running. I had something like that a few years ago, just a spastic, continued cough. I actually ended up needing some kind of muscle relaxers for the bronchials that then made me sick when I did cough. So I know what you've been going through. Just chalk up this month as a recovery and come back refreshed and newly motivated in December.

I know what you mean, I kind of fell off the face of the earth for a while too. I don't think that's a bad thing. Sometimes, I think you just need to recover for a bit.

Glad to hear you're feeling better. Rest will do you a world of good, really! Hopefully the hip is feeling better now too?

You know we won't let RRG disappear for good!
