Can I Get a Chicken Breast and a Side of Plank?

I ran in beautiful White Plains, NY after my luggage arrived in the cover of darkness. I only did about 15 minutes in the crisp air, mostly because I really needed the sleep. It was great and I was a little bummed that I didn't get to do a longer run upon arrival, but that just couldn't be helped.

However, I was really good on the eating healthy, which is quite a challenge there. Our training facility has a huge buffet with tons of choices, healthy to pretty bad and loads of desserts. And every breakout is loaded with food. That is always a big challenge for me because all the skinny's seem to be able to pig out. I just can't do that. Luck of the genes. Or maybe they are better the rest of the time than I am, and just splurge when they travel?

Anyway, this was my best eating training trip in recent memory and I felt pretty good about that. Also, since I only did the 15 minutes in the am, I worked out HARD that night. Hard enough to be light-headed after and super sore today. I did a Fat Burner on the treadmill and several abs, lunges and push-ups. I'm gettting pretty good at the regular planks, but the side ones just kill me. Everything hurts and tells me I haven't been doing enough of the PT exercises.
I'm home now and put the running clothes on. I hope to do some hills and go see PT guy again. I thought surely I would be down in weight at least a couple pounds but I was 158. :P YUCK. I think I probably just offset the eating holiday we just had as I'm not sure I actually weighed right before I left. At least it is a step in the right direction

Hope everyone has a great weekend!! Don't forget, next weekend is EIGHT ON THE EIGHTH. Everyone is invited to run 8 miles with all your closest and not so closest running friends. You pick the route, the starting time, and anything else you want, then post a race report and send me a link to the report!

Way to go on sticking to a healthy diet while on the road. I know how hard those meetings can be. you eat at 8, 10, noon, 3, 5...it never ends! Those side planks always get me to.

it is soooo hard to eat well when travelling. Good for you for keeping at it!!!

if you didn't like eating food that other people had touched it wouldn't be hard to resist. but then again, if you had all those food issues, maybe it wouldn't be so good.

do you check your "nonrunner AT gmail.com" email address? I just sent what you missed yesterday, in case you really wanted to see it.

Traveling is SO hard. I think you're probably retaining water from the flight. I always feel so bloated after flying and it takes a while for it to go down. You did a GREAT JOB passing up the junk. AND working out on the road. Nice.

Glad you're home safe & sound. Bet you're happy to see your family. Enjoy your weekend!

I eat like crap when I travel, but it almost seems like theres no way around it.

When driving, I usually will get Subway once and pick up crap food at gas stations to hold me over until I get to wherever I'm going.

If I'm traveling with my family, forget about it! We always get Wendy's, McDonalds, Burger King, etc whenever we stop to get food.

So yes, some of us DO eat healthy most the time and then eat really bad when we travel!

planks are a pain and i hate it when the instructor makes you do them for 60 seconds!

me too! the only thing I find harder than saying no to dessert is saying no to free dessert.. I think that has something to do with being a grad student!!

I have a love hate relationship myself with buffets. My normal appetite does this Grinchy things and grows 10x or 100x or whatever happens to the Grinch.. I don't recall exactly. But you get my point. I try to avoid them at all costs because I don't have one of those great metabolisms that seem to melt calories... I really have to work at it.
BTW, you look great if you asked me. Maybe even a little on the thin side :-)

Just wanted to let you know that I am overwhelmed by your comment on my blog. I don't think of myself as very strong and certainly not amazing. I just hope that I am able to grieve with the grace that Kruex was able to live and die with. Thank you so much for your words, they really mean so much to me.
