5 Things About Me

I've been Tagged, by Ali, one of the cutest and funniest bloggers I know! Oh, the pressure...
rules:
• link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
• share 5 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
• tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
• let them know they are TAGGED by leaving a comment on their blog.

1. I love, love, love lipstick. I wear it most of the time and even have been known to race with it on, you know attract the attention *upward* (off the hips). I only wear CoverGirl Outlast All Day Lip Color and it does last nearly ALL DAY. I wish they made more colors. I love it. I freaked the dental hygeinist out the other day when she asked me to blot it off before she started. No need. When I left, it was still perfect. :D

2. I enjoy techie gadgety things. Garmin, TiVo, iPod, PS2, PSP, Wii, HiDef TV, SlimP3. Once we got hi def and TiVo, I asked my husband for it all over the house. I seriously don't know how I did it before I met this man. I didn't even own a computer and my phone was one model up from the ones that came with a bag. I'm not the techie person, I just enjoy the fruits of a techie person's labor. You've helped me come a long way, Baby. :D I should add, not only is he a sweet techie, he has the patience of Job, which is really a good thing when you are married to me. (SlimP3 is a wireless device that acts like a component at your stereo but is wireless to your computer where all your music is stored. It is kind of like a jukebox menu of all the music you have ripped on your computer. It's the coolest.)

3. I have a BS in Pharmacy and decided, ahem, late in life, during having kids, with major support from Hubby, to go back and get my doctorate of pharmacy. You can call me Dr if you like, but I answer to just about anything. :D

4. I actually enjoy and look forward to public speaking. Fortunately for me, some of my job duties entail speaking. I have a ball, make fun of myself, tell stories, and try to make it fun for everyone. My favorite is when it is a topic that I am passionate about.

5. I made up my own race on a whim because I need to get some momentum back. (see previous post below.) Vickie was saying the same thing and it led me to say, why don't we start one? The logo is dorky but I thought it was funny to have one for a virtual race. Still a possibility on tshirts but everyone would have to mail me their money. Will see how much the quote is and let everyone know. I hope everyone will consider joining us for 8 on the 8th.

Guess what, I am finally going to try to run today. I'm still coughing some but starting to feel better. It's been a week since I did 5 hill repeats of 60 seconds and really more like 2 weeks since I've done a good run. I hope I can hang with Amy!

Two and a half years ago, during my first half-marathon, I carried lipstick with me. I applied it at around 12.5 miles, so that I'd look good at the end. I love that picture, but you really can't see the lipstick.

Ok Doc, I have a pharm question. I heard that taking advil before running can be really bad for you, as your stomach can't digest it when your running. Truth?

I hope we get more peeps for the run. I love the idea. Even though I might get a DNF. ha ha.

The lipstick thing reminded me of the book/movie: I wore lipstick to my mastectomy. A very poignant movie, but the quote has stuck with me since. The reason behind it was she wanted to look beautiful even though she was going to go through the disfiguring surgery. I've thought about using that phrase and wearing lipstick (which I do for just about anything but running) if and when I ever do an Ironman.

P.S. on the shirts: I can check a few sources here too. I'll check with the race director of the GRM and see if he has a source. There's a guy I work with who does shirts too, but despite that he probably won't give us a deal. I might suggest using a gray or some neutral color since it will likely be cheaper, and would look good with the blue in the logo. And better than white. I have also looked on line briefly for some type of award, and have actually found some nice but inexpensive ones, but the problem will be in deciding how to give them out! Maybe just a shirt would be best?

TiVo is a necessity. I'd sooner starve than give up my TiVo...(I'm sure you think that is a real possibility anyway!)

hope you are feeling good and had a great run.

Oh Nancy... you are such a charmer.

For comparison's sake...

1. Gave it up after my The Cure phase in college.

2. I also love tech things and have eveything from Tivo to Hi Def to Gps to Wi Fi to ??

3. No Pharmacy degree.. but we had a Pharmacy program at the Michigan College of Optometry and I thought the Pharm students were really cool. That must count for something??

4.Love public speaking and am talking about running at my local Lifetime Fitness on 12/8.

5. Doing my friend Nancy's race on the 8th. (Thanks for the invite.)

Good luck on that run and hang in there.

Here's to going back to school late in life! (And I reckon with should call you Dr. Nancy because you've earned it.

Secret about me, I really dislike lipstick and hardly ever wear it... BUT I do run with blistex.

Great list

I am obsessed with lip balm, they are in ever pocket of ever jacket.

of all the things you listed, #5 is the BEST. I file that in the 'dream it, then do it' category. :)

i'm going to tag onto Vickie's comment. somethign other than white shirts would be good. i really dont' think you need to worry about rewards...maybe some sort of graphic that can be used on their blog would suffice for that part?!?!

I'm a major lipstick lover, too. I have 30+ shades in all different brands. Right now I'm stuck on a MAC color called 'fetish'. Oh, and don't get me started on lip glosses. Ugh.

As for t-shirts, have you looked into zazzle.com? You can design them lickety-split, use your logo and order them from there. I have used them many times in the past, and they are GREAT!

love your list. Good for you loving public speaking. Me I freak out from the moment I find out I have - it's horrible!

i dislike the taste & feel of lipstick but carry one with me because the tiny cases with the mirror inside are cute and hope they make me appear sophisticated. i have to toss the lipstick when it becomes stale.

I'm pretty good at public speaking as well -- mostly because my job forces me to face 6 classes of 25 people a piece every week. So speaking inf ront of them has become pretty routine.

I do not love lipstick. I feel like stuff is on my lips and I just want to lick it off. I am a chapstick kind of gal -- and even that has to be constantly re-applied because of the licking.

Love your list. I love talking to pharamcists because they are so helpful. Thanks for putting the race together, else I'd never go running again after the marathon.

Brooke said...

No lipstick for me either. I can be completely made up, but you won't find me w/lipstick.

I want in on this race. Souds like fun.
