Today's Learnings

y I am capable of 4.2 miles after 8 days off.
y Those 4.2 miles after 8 days off will very likely suck.
y Even slower actually IS possible.
y My lunch date with PF Chang was not a good idea pre run.
y PF Chang does not taste nearly as good later.
y PF Chang is hereby banned unless the run is in the books.
y New Enells make me very very happy and keep the girls close to the chest (because the bounce stops here!)
y Enell now comes in bright red. :D
y My foot feels better but maybe not 100%.
y Some runs are just harder.
y All of your thoughts and prayers are really, REALLY appreciated.
y 10k on the 10th of May is coming up fast. Are you ready??? I have a few things to do...

I'm hoping to feel bloggy again soon. Thanks everyone, for your support.

It's kind of interesting how us running bloggers will post the most intimate details about our physical training (body functions, anyone?) yet we have a hard time sharing what goes on in our lives outside of running. Whatever's going on, know that you have a strong network of people pulling for you. And hey, it gives you even more reason to go and run it out. Good luck Nancy.

echoing frayed laces and sharing that Ive learned the only thing pre-workout for me at pf changes is the steamed chicken and broccoli :)

Let's throw PF Changs on the list next to my California Tortilla.

Everyone has good/bad days. The important thing is you are out there moving at any speed.

Thanks for such a great blog. You are an inspiration to me and I really enjoy reading your thoughts... While I am a big PF Chang's fan, I'm thinking tasting any of it twice would not be fun. Many blessings - William

PF Chang returning - Ewww...

I was lucky there was no Chinese before Drake -- otherwise, someone would have had a mess the way my stomach felt afterwards. Seriously though, your running is going great, and everyone is entitled to a bad run every now and then. Getting out there and putting the time in is sometimes the best thing.

eew! rerun of PF Changs. it's best to secure the twin peaks properly for a comfortable run.

((HUGS)) Nancy!

I totally need to get one of those bras. Maybe not in bright red, though....

LOL!

Shelley said...

That red bra looks like something Jane Russell would wear - talk about bullets! I'm kind of partial to the Fiona sports bra myself.

I love red, but that is like whore house red - but would it match the lipstick?

I hope that whatever it is you're dealing with works out or gets better soon. We miss you. big ((hugs))

Ah yes the learning curve of bad food choices prior to running... I remember the first time I had mexican the night before a long run...made even longer.

"PF Chang does not taste nearly as good later".. yup I gotta agree on that one!

Glad to hear from you Nancy! Hope you can take the club to the personal stuff you are dealing with. Stay tough my friend.

Ooh, I love PF Changs. The closest one is in Indy, though, so we only get to eat there once in a blue moon.

Keep on keeping on, sister.

Hi Nancy, glad to have you back. I was going to skip my run today because it is rainy and cold, but after reading you, I'm inspired to tough it out. Have to get ready for 10K on the 10th, you know. Hope your foot continues to heal well so you can be out there directing the race traffic next weekend.

I think that you you run in that bra without a shirt. I had to do that once. It was AWFUL.

I have a 10 mile race on the 11th. Does it count if it is an ACTUAL race instead of virtual? Actually I don't think it counts.

I'm so planning on crawling through park of my 10k on the 10th :-).

Much love Nancy!!!!!! You're always so fun to come visit on the internets :-)

PF Changs can go on the list along with my El Mariachi. ooo badness. But good for you getting out there and running.

Frayed laces said it best. Come back soon - we miss you!

Tri+Umph said...

Thanks for your kind words; the exercises have been helping a ton. Hopefully I'll be back on my feet by this weekend (I'm not risking anything until then).

Nice job on the run! You're a much better runner than me right now ;)

I miss Nancy!!! I hope everything is ok! I might stalk you through email. No, that would be harassment. But email me if you want to talk, k?

Hope things are looking up.

I'll be doing my 10K on the 10th!

I can attest that PF Chang's is much better as recovery food. That's what I had after the Baltimore Marathon and I finished my plate, my wife's, and my mom's.

My thoughts are you with Nancy!

Nat said...

Guess they can't all be great. Hang in there.

Kevin said...

EEEwww. I am sure that doesnt taste too good coming back up while running

Ok, so I've been absent too...I had to push the link for Enell, something made me do it...does that thing make for a uni-boob look? Bonnie wears something similar at times and that is what she calls her look, as do several other women I run with too....I'm glad that most of us guys don't have that issue...
I loved your earlier blog about not being a Kenyan, I feel the same tho...tho at times when I hit my runner's high I feel as tho I am running with them...I tell everyone they finished the race and came back to run with me....LOL!!!

Jess said...

PF Changs is too delicious to risk throwing it up. Careful, Nancy.

David said...

Yeah, for as much as PF Chang's supports running (RnR AZ Half and Full, for example), they totally suck for pre-run fuel. Haven't tried them as recovery food, though. Hmmm....

Bill Carter said...

Oh You!

I am in clinic this morning and kind of bummed not to be out in the beautiful sun, but all I have to do is read your blog and I am cracking up laughing. My wife and I have an affinity for PF Chang's and your advice will come in handy.

4.2 huh?? Sounds pretty good to me.

As always, best of the best luck to you.

P.O.M. said...

PF Changs should be banned PERIOD. They are baaadddd.

I"m ready for 10 on the 10th. Finally a race that I actaully get to participte in :)

Razz said...

Double pan-fried noodles. Ewwww.....
The 10K on the 10th is my recovery run. FYI. I'm getting my excuses out early.

Running blogs are great.
But more power to you for keeping some personal things private that should be private.
It is easy to forget that hoard of blog suffers who never identify themselves .. and may be up to no good.
If you could know that only your blogging runner friends were reading your blog it would be different. And if you are involved in some relationship issues, it may not be helpful to have your dear ones reading about themselves on the internet!?It is good to be cautious.

Know that lots of runner friends in blogland are cheering on your behalf!!

E said...

Hope things get better soon. I'm ready for the 10K on the 10th!

Viv said...

PF Changs, I have wanted to try that place. May have to take the advice of waiting till the run is in the books.
You know I am feeling you on those miles after being incognito from running. Yaa on the new Enell, I am sporting the crimson blue..LOL!

Unknown said...

Oh man, a couple of friends are getting together Saturday night to celebrate a birthday and of course they picked... PF Chang's! However, I'll be doing my run prior, so even if I get to, um, "taste" it again it'll be while I'm lounging on the couch.

Hope to see you bloggin' again soon!

RunnerGirl said...

Keep hanging in there Nancy :)

zanne said...

oh cripey! i forgot all about 10k on the 10th of May. this could very well be a personal worst for me seeing as i am on a running sabbatical & have run exactly twice in the past 2 weeks.

Sonia said...

Good come back Nancy! A 4.2 miler would definitely suck after that time out! That 10K comes at a good time for my training (or lack of training) for my next race! lol

RunnerMom said...

I am all about P.F. Chang's medium rare New York Strip. Now that's fuel! Have it with some brown rice.... wait about two hours, I think it would work!

Stuart said...

Never been in a PF Changs but we're pulling for you over here!
