8 in Pictures

Friday
8 miles ~ 1 hour and 42 minutes ~ 12:51 pace

12:19
12:30
12:31
12:23
12:35
13:29
13:48
13:25

Obviously the hills at the end eat me up, but this is slightly better than last time I did this route, although similar: mid 12's until I hit the hills. They must be making me stronger. Part of me wants a different route, part of me wants to just keep improving on these nasty hills.

Even though it got hard, I didn't have to play any til the next light pole games. I just ran. There was ice on the deck in the morning, yet it was 60 degrees and I was in shorts. I ran for Doug and Wendy and Gotta Run. I knew they wanted to be out there, and I thought I owed it to them. Here is what we saw:

My legs came out of the shade.
Brooks kicks. DUH.
Early hill in mile 1

Vase Envy.
Somewhere around mile 2.2

Signs of Spring
Mile 3 - 4

Oh, Dude.
Around Mile 4

Made.His.Day.
All the boy's in the nursing home are going to hear about the young gal
that wanted his picture. He said, "Be careful out here."
Adorable.
Mile 4

Jr High kids running sprints.
They looked SO young.
Mile 4.5

Tracks

Mile 5.5

Gu Bridge

Mile 6

Muddy Bike Path

Mile 6.5

Love the pictures! Was that bike path in the marathon course? It looks vaguely familiar.

Very nice... It is so nice that it is actually spring again. I was in NW Iowa countryside at the inlaws, and my route wasn't as nearly as colorful or nice smelling. (gotta remember to wear a respirator next time or avoid freshly spread fields...)

Thanks for sharing your pictures. It is always a good run when you don't have to play "to the next light pole game" (for me it is mailboxes).

Nice run. Hills are killer. I'm still trying to get used to them without dropping dead in the meantime.

Thanks for the nice note. Yeah, I'm definately thinking that losing weight will be easier. So that's a good thing.

Like the pictures. How in the world do you take pictures when you run and they are fuzzy from bouncing or breathing hard? My 5 year old Olympus won't do that and my wife's 1 year old Canon won't do it -- maybe image stabilization has come a really long way.

Thanks for the tour. Though every time I see one of these photo tours, everyone seems to run in a much more interesting place than myself. I need to move.

Love the pictures, especially the guy from the nursing home!

So often I want to take photos. But my camera is too big and I don't have a cell phone that takes photos.

Your splits actually look nice and steady to me. Good job with that aspect!!!

Your route seems beautiful. I am so sick of running up and down the West Side Highway.

And, who said the Midwest was flat??? :-)

So happy for you that you got to run in shorts. Liberating, isn't it?

David said...

Whoa, what's with all the skin? Are you trying to up your content rating to PG-13?
:-)

That's great to follow along in the pics. Hills can be an evil beast, but either they own you or you own them. You may want to try running the course in reverse, if possible (didn't see if it was a loop or out-and-back). That way you have the energy and fuel to attack the hills, and then try to cruise the rest. But still, that was a great run!

I have those same shoes! Time for new ones too. I don't know why though because my mileage certainly hasn't been that high, and I've hardly run outside this whole winter. The pictures are great, and a good way to take your mind off the work. I take mental ones.

Frayed Laces said...

Thanks for the pics of your run. I love looking at the routes that everyone gets to take. I must say though, that giant vase is on par with the marble greyhound I pass...what are people thinking?

Marathoner in Training said...

That was a great run, although where did the hills come from. I thought Iowa was flat like florida.

KimsRunning said...

WOW!! What a fantastic idea! I'm so impressed with those pictures. I love to see where people run. I laughed hysterically on "vase envy", still chuckling! Would you consider it a compliment if I used your idea????

Thanks for taking us along for the tour. Nice pics, and looks like a nice day for a great run, Nancy! I'd keep doing the same route. In a couple of weeks, you're gonna be praising the improvement you see yourself doing on those hills!

I liked your pictures! What a cool idea! I may copy that sometime...

Great run as well!
