A few things I need to get off my chest:
I've been all over the net (trying to catch up and) telling people, don't be too hard on yourself, you're just coming back.
I recently told one of my favoritest, most persistent and in my eyes, most successful RBF's that chaotic, even traumatic personal times can be helped if you keep the running up. I'm trying to take my own advice. I have had an amazing summer of travel and my own chaos and trauma, but I won't make apologies. But, running has taken a further back seat than I am comfortable with. Truth is, I've averaged just 4.2 miles per week for the last 6 or 7. It won't be easy coming back, but that is what I intend to do.
Saturday - 2.35 miles
Sunday - 2.75 miles
Wednesday - 2.81 miles
Some of the slowest miles evah but I'm out there. Also some of the hottest miles evah, holy cow.
There are TONS of MEN in the neighborhood in the morning. Roofing, mowing, blowing, trimming, picking up garbage, fed exing, fixing asphalt, riding bikes, etc. Quite the array from 12 years old helping dad to way too country club for this job but my parents are making me do hard labor for the summer to lifers. Very interesting... I saw two women, one was a faster runner (that's pretty much any woman that runs!) and one almost hit me as she ran a red light.
My weight has mercifully stayed down since taking 3rd (I think it was 3rd) in the famous Vivalicious challenge. I must keep going. 150 is great, but 140 would be greater. :D SLB has just the ticket.
My baby told me in very big boy terms yesterday that he no longer needs rocked and he would like the rocking chair removed from his room. WHAAAAAA!
The oldest is reading and ready for kindergarten. Thank God we got him plain underwear so he isn't worried about kids making fun of him. Crap. When did he grow up? He's 5 and he's reading the box scores.
Did I mention I have some official Olympic stuff for our virtual race??? Nothing big, but I thought it would be fun. I've got to get a logo up soon. Put 8 on the 8th on your calendars!!!

8 on the 8th - I'm in!
Way to go for getting out there in the heat. :)
It's going to be a bit early, given the vacation schedules but I'm in (and slow too.)
Three cheers for MEN!!! I like men! A lot. :)
Just getting out there and running in that type of weather is hands down - great! Give yourself a pat on the back.
I would love to do the 8th on the 8th, but I am down from an injury. Sucks....
OH! I forgot about 8 on the 8th; thanks for the reminder!
TONS OF MEN? Okay, you should really send them my way. I am single... and am struggling with the selection up here! :)
Whooooaaaa did someone say "men"? Did they havbe their shirts off? That's really the most important question :P
I'm adding the 8 on the 8th! I'll be there ;-)
Men, doing Yardwork?? running, trimming, fixing asphalt...gah, send them to me in Canada!!! LOL...I'm single, come ON!!!
As for the 8th on the 8th, let me know I'm soooo in.
Check out my animoto, the Cave Man run made it into the video!!!
Let us know the details, 8K ~~ 8 miles...a gal needs to know! LMAO!!
Glad you are back!!
:^)
Everybody needs a break from running once in a while! Good job keeping the weight down, I wish I could say the same lol
I think my foot is up for 8 on the 8th =)
Oh life happens. Start slowly and you'll be back to RUNNER NANCY soon.
Men? Single? Tall? Feel free to hand out my card. ha ha.
Me again.
"It's raining men" just popped into my head.
Now sing it all day long!
I haven't done a good job with my mileage either. I figure it's easier to start over the second time, you know what to expect.
I'll come over and sit in your lap and you can rock me ;-) Just kiddin!! I'm totally against causing other peeps pain!! LOL!!!
I've been told, that next week is an OFF week for me, the first since the end of May. Count me in on 8 on the 8th, but I need to see what my plan has in store!!
WTG keeping the weight off, even with little tunning. Good job picking up the running, given the summer heat.
I'd be in for "8 on the 8th", but my training plan says I have to do 15 on the 9th, so I don't see the 8 happening...
Hey Nanc...Just caught up on that little China trip post-- lol
WOW WOW WOW really amazing and great Pics.!!!!
Awww, it's hard when our babies get older. Mine is 9 yrs. old now, and I'll take all the hugs and kisses I can still get now, since I know it will all end soon enough. :)
Hi Nancy,
So what can i say?? I've been running and GAINED weight! Whats up with that??? Hmmm, could be the nightly icecream treats? :O)
8 on the 8th! Gosh, i'd love to but the most i've run is 6 miles! Wonder if its doable for me???
I gain when I up my mileage as well. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I won't be able to participate in the 8 on the 8th. I'll be quite busy those few days! Also, I'm needing to back down on mileage right now... I am a bit over trained!
I am in for 8 on 8th. Cant wait. I am way too slow but I have been slacking off these days on my running and I miss it. :)
I'm confused about the underwear thing. How is anyone going to know what's on your kid's undies?
I'm going to juggle my schedule to do the 8 on the 8th. Can one of the prize go to the slowest runner? Cuz that's the only way I have a shot at getting one. ;)
The underwear thing is huge, believe me - don't want to be caught with action figures or Bob the Builder on your skivvies at school! Don't be sad about them growing up, Nancy, every age has it's "charms" and honestly it's so amazing to see them change and grow - it's the biggest adventure ever. See you on the 8th!
I'm so if for 8 on the 8th 08!
The china pictures were aweseommmmmme! I can't wait to see the new logo.
you're out there and getting back on track Nancy keep at it.
I sure hope my baby doesn't ask me to remove his rocking chair. Poor mama. Way to keep moving. You'll be back in full force before you know it.
Is this km or miles? km I'm up for... Miles? Maybe not yet. I'm thinking that the 10 on the 10th was Km, wasn't it?
Dang girl, good job keeping the weight down with the running lull! I need to catch up too - but I'm not nearly as well travelled this year ;-). What's next? Tibet anyone?
I'm not sure how I'm going to do 8 on the 8th, might have to do it tomorrow because I have a race on the 9th.
Glad you got back out there Nanc. You know how I feel abou the splits whatevas..you are out there!
Missed you!!!
Nancy, it has been bugger-hot and humid. Extra stars for any running in this weather. Good job.
The temps will be lower.. Good luck for keeping on keeping on.
Lots of excitement going on in your world. Zowie!
It is often hard to take one's own advice. Hang in there and know that you're on the right track and that it isn't so terrible if you've backed off from running for a spell. It'll come back. Running is always there ready to welcome you with open arms.
I know how you feel though - I've been in the same boat. Might have to make my 8 on the 8th the culmination of 8 miles over a few days . . . or maybe an 8K????
