Is it bad if you feel like a sausage?

I simply have to have a schedule. Another weekend of no running has transpired. Without a plan, I am hopeless. (unlike Wendy who runs 40 - 45 a week with no plan!!) I'm someone who sometimes needs to rest my feet between runs, unfortunately, rest can turn into hiatus. Here is the plan. I'm going to try to follow something like 3,4,3,5 or 3,4,3,6 for the next week or two and then get something more solid in place. I have some plans to pour over and make some decisions, but even this should help. Run today, and tomorrow and also try to run in Las Vegas. Love of my life Gadget Guy is going to CES for work (Wed, Thur, Fri), I get to tag along. I can't wait. I love Vegas. I'm going to play lots of poker and run like a runner. Did I mention poker?

Mile 1 ~ 13:16
Mile 2 ~ 12:27
Mile 3 ~ 12:45
.55 ~ 6:56 (12:42)
3.55miles ~ 45:24 ~ 12:47 pace

At 3.2 I was going to stop. I wanted to do 3 and I was planning to walk the last huge hill but a runner came toward me. How can I stop as a runner is approaching? I decided to keep going and high five him, "Thanks, you kept me going!" Runner, "All Right!"

In the category of strange attire, I received a new short sleeve technical shirt for Christmas. It is the strangest shaped, smallest Large shirt I have ever seen. I wore it today under a sweatshirt. It is very long and skinny and resembles a sausage casing, me the stuffing. It also has a slightly higher neck than I am used to, just adding to the sausage look. By one mile it was riding up around my ribs. I decided I wasn't going to keep pulling it down but it did have me thinking,
"my waist is usually my skinny part"
"thank goodness I have on a sweatshirt"
"I feel like a sausage when I pull it down"
"if I let it go, I wonder just how far it will ride up"
"would a good goal be to have it fit normally or is that even possible with this shirt"
"talk about censored attire"
"I can't wait to run in Vegas. And, play poker. I'm so not taking this shirt."

I'm worthless without a plan too. I just tell myself that it's a scheduled rest or cross training day, but then I end up with 6 or 7 of them every week.

If I don't have a plan there is no running. Unless someone promises breakfast after the run then I go.

There is no plan without a goal either, so I need a race, then a plan, then I run.

we need a visual of the sausage shirt. are you sure it wasn't an arm warmer? lol

Dudette. This kills me about running gear. You can't tell what shape anything is ... S, M, L, XL.. it's insane.

Anyway.. maybe bring the shirt as a gambling distraction for your opponents? Have fun in Vegas.

Hey Nancy, I'll email you the beginner half plan Maddy sent me. She actually sent me a spreadsheet with four plans. 2 for a half and 2 for a marathon. The one I'll send you is the beginner half.

Oh no, I hate it when attire does that. Bummer. I am the same way without a race picked out. I have to have a plan with a race at the end.

I hear you - I never get in a run on the weekend unless I plan, plan, plan.
And hate ride up! Horrible feeling.

I am one for plans. I find that I need to have my running all planned out and have a goal to shoot for. No goal and no plan leave room for laziness and sloughing off.

Enjoy Vegas...

My friend Micheline and I got a sausage casing from "Pat's Run" last year. I mean, it was RIDCULOUS!!! White spandex - need I say more? I couldnt even imagine wearing my XL version in public. I know Micheline took a picture....I'll try to dig one up.

I hate it when they assume all runners can wear white spandex :I

Have a BLAST in Vegas! I love Vegas too! :)

Way to work up a plan to keep running. Why is that we HAVE to continue running when another runner approches, but I always do. Maybe I should run surrounded by other runners who don't stop.
Have a blast on the trip. Good luck in Vegas, Baby!!

have fun in Vegas...last time I was out there I did some running down by Mandalay Bay and the airport - compared to FL it is very dry, but it is good for running. Also, if you'd like me to transfer some of my angst I'm sure you'll start running without a schedule...being neurotic has some benefits, I suppose.

That's funny, I can never stop when I see another runner, walker, or biker coming at me. Have fun in Vegas.

Yes, I demand an image of the sausage shirt!

Your running plan sounds good. You may even consider downloading a half trainign schedule or something just to train by -- even if you don't have a race, sometime just having a prescribed schedule helps maintain motivation.

You are going to have so much fun running in Vegas. I think you should run in that shirt there, remember what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Although we want pictures. This past fall, I went to Road Runner Sports in San Diego, and they have their clearence center (warehouse) next door. They have some of the greatest prices, but I think I saw some of those sausage shirts there. They had some clothes that I think were sewen incorrectly.

You sooooo need to ditch that shirt!

Have an awesome time in Vegas! I loooove Vegas! ;)

I feel like a sausage often.

Ugh, I hate that sausage feeling. And clothes that are uncomfortable, especially while exercising. It should be a law.

I have a shirt that plagues me as well. Mine is high necked and makes me look like one of those jelly filled rubber toys that you squish and stick your fingers in each end. Okay that sounds perverted but I can't find a picture. It is inoccent I swear.

I totally can ID with the no plan problem. Even with a half marathon training program posted on my cubicle wall, I wonder how I'm gonna keep it going like I'm supposed to. Ah, well, we just do what we can, we working mamas.

Enjoy Vegas. I saw some stuff on the CES on CNBC and wished I was there to try it all out. Looking forward to your report. At least in Vegas the weather will be nice for you to keep running.

lol.I have the same problems with a similar shirt until I get sweaty enough that it sticks to the sausage stuffing (me). Let me know what you end up doing with it so I can do the same with mine!
