Beware of Rug Burns

Sunday ~
Snuck off to the gym for 40 min elliptical and 20 minutes toning.
Had company to watch football but still did reasonably well on the diet. Lots of sushi and veggies.
May have had at least my share of wine, though. :D

Monday ~
4 miles at the gym ~ 49:44
13:27
12:08
12:05
12:04

Plank ~ only about 90 seconds. Maybe 120 was an anomaly... Beware of rug burns on your elbows. Bummer. And, yes, I mean from doing the plank.
Great day on the diet if I can just get to bed without eating anything else.

Down about 4.5 so far. . .

Nice job on the run & diet, you are ROCKIN IT Nancy!

*only* a 90 second plank! You are miss core woman!

Down 4.5 already? You are doing really well. Great job thinking about the big picture and not short term satisfaction!

Your consistency great! That's the key.

On a side note, don't you live in Iowa? Sushi? Is that allowed in the midwest?

Nipped in the bud :-)

Yea, I found it much easier to get to my 1 minute doing the plank on a pad versus a hardwood floor :-O

Nice negative splits there!!

Great splits, and fantastic job on the healthy choices during the game!! Doing great, yaa!
LOL, at going to bed. I wanted to go to bed yesterday at 8 since I was getting hungry. I stayed up another hour and caved in to a granola bar. ugh!

I did 120 seconds yesterday on a hardwood floor! Does that make me intense enough to go up against Hellga on American Gladiators yet?

Ummmm Nancy, how long do you plan on holding planks for? Good God! You rock at those things! The only time I get rug burn on the elbows/forearms is when I wear long sleeved shirts on the bike (Yeah I now, you were expecting me to say something naughtier but I didn't :P)

Wow - congratulations on the loss!

How I admire your planks! I have such a poor core that it's a wonder I don't just spontaneously collapse at the waist. One of my goals is to correct that this year -- and you are an inspiration!

Good job with the workouts! I'll have to time myself on plank one of these days and see if I can stack up to Nancy!

Planks are evil.

You're brilliant.

Rock on with your bad self!

Deene said...

you'll have plank elbow as your badge of honor instead of the typical runner's scabby knees.
you're doing good!

I am not even going to go there with the "rug burn" comment. You kindof have me laughing :)

The wine could have played a factor in the plank.

You are doing great... keep staying focused!

You are doing awesome! You can kick my butt in the plank anyday.

I challenged my family to a plank contest. I'll post on it soon. 90 seconds is amazing. good job.

Tee heee.....rug burns from the plank. Love it!

I love planks. I do 3-4 sets at 30-45 secs. each, but nothing close to 90 secs at a pop. You rock!

I don't buy the rug burn excuse in the slightest!

I'd be lucky to even get myself propped up on my elbows and toes let alone hold it. :D Great work.

Okay... inspired by your 120 I tried out my first plank. And... I did 15 seconds. Good.ness. those things are hard! Seriously Nancy, you rock.

Nice job with the downward trend of those 4 miles. At that rate, if you ran another 10-15 miles you'd be busting out 5 minute miles by the end.

Nancy

You are still "The Plankster" if you ask me. BTW, those were some pretty nice splits.

Like sushi and veggies... love wine! Riesling is my kryptonite these days, but I like it all:-)

I wrote my last post with you as one of the people I had in mind. I know I tell you this all the time and I don't mean it to be patronizing, but you are someone who I have great respect and admiration for. You've had injuries, illnesses, travel and family obligations. You have perservered through all of this.. training and sense of humor intact.

Ok, I'm going there. Rug burns on elbows? Scabs on knees? Now THAT'S the kind of excerise I could really get into :) hee hee.

Ah hahahhaha! The rug burns has me cracking up!! You are funny! :>)

Nice run!!

We should start a movement to get people to time themselves doing the plank! In just one day, I upped my time by 6 seconds, but I have a long way to go!

uh huh. SURE the rug burns were from the plank *wink wink* *nudge nudge* yeah, that would be my story too. ;)

congrats on the 4.5 so far.

Sushi and veggies... not with football for me!

Good workouts.

I too, was thinking "rigggghhhttt" on the rug burn. hehe

Seriously, the plank. I meant to do one this morning after pilates but forgot. I'm gonna have to start doing them more. They are sooo good for you. You're the plank princess!!!

You're doing so well with the journey of fitness and weighloss. I'm inspired.

Ouch... rug burns? No fun! :)

you're doing awesome on the diet... or lifestyle change, as I would like to call it! :)

Congrats on getting in a 4 mile run on the treadmill! Are you ready to hit the road next week again when it warms up?

And 4.5 pounds down? Wow - that is fabulous.

I am trying to stay with the plank thing - but 25-30 seconds is still my shaky limit - but I will keep working on it.

great job on the run and the downward move on the scale...

rug burns are the worst.

Still snickering to myself about the rug burns.
